One idea that i have been developing is to make a transparent or semi-transparent envelope as a distinctive way to mail the self-promotional material
Vellum envelopes are widely available and effective, but my final choice of material was lighting gels. Lee filters provide a designer's edition swatch book with samples of approximatly 200 colours that they produce. I picked a red gel as (as can be seen above) it works very well with the black & white photography, flooding the image without losing tonal range (it also evokes the working in a darkroom).
After selecting from the swatch book i have chosen to use Lee filters #019 Fire as opposed to the standard #106 Primary Red as it maintains a strong saturated red, but has more opacity allowing contents to be more visible
