I was commissioned to design a poster for Level 2 performance students' 2010 production, so between 25th Jan and 4th March i worked on a side project creating a poster for the uk premiere of an American stage Musical called SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE directed by John Barlow of the BA (Hons) Performance course at the university which will be performed the W/C 8th March.

Part of the show is set in present day New York, and the director had a rough idea for some sort of photo montage of an eye reflecting the plane crash into the twin towers but the show also references the classic film Rashamon and also updates another japanese short story, so was open to other possibilities, after discussion was really looking for an arresting poster, the only demand that it refrence NYC and have all the neccessary information.

Very early on i formulated a visual identity using refined black and white photography of new york city as direct refrence to the setting (new york 1950s, classic cinematic roots) and using upside down typography - inverting the title represented the readings from multiple points of view in the narrative.

The design went through numerous iterations beginning with japanese plants with leafy foliage, to central park and bare trees winter (which became the final).
