forest

Another frustrating editorial image - these iamges and experiments were for a piece that used the central phrase 'All saplings, no forest' as a critique of the unreliability and immaturity of public institutions particularly journalism and politics ...'The Beltway cannot handle all this. And that's why they continue to jump on every micro-talking-point and forget vast forests for a few failing saplings. '

The word 'saplings' was done by taking stamens and other delicate bits of spring plants and flowers and sticking them down onto acetate, and the word 'forest' was done by gathering leaves and cutting directly into them using a scalpel. Both were then taken outside into the garden and photographed in situ. In the case of 'forest' it was put into the algae coated birdbath and photoed as if in a forest pond.
