Objectified - a film by Gary Hustwit

objectified - additional notes

"design speaks to who put it there, whether intentional or not"
"it has a specific cultural context where that kind of functionality and ritual makes sense"

"cultural symbolism comes back to inhabit and give form"
- Andrew Blauvelt, design curator of the Walker Art Centre

"succesful coherant design has emotional authenticity - a human element"
Chris Bangle, former design director for the BMW group , Munich

Objectified is also the follow up to the 2007 film 'Helvetica' also directed by Gary Hustwit which explored the history and proliferation of the typeface of the same name, but more broadly the proffesion of graphic design. Having seen Helvetica when it was released it has since helped me articuate and deepen my interest in discussions in the film about space, aesthetic, vocabulary
